My name is Rus Yates-Aylott and I have been writing, recording and performing music since the age of 10 when, in an outfit called Flame, three school friends from 1970 decided to go out and entertain at the local Residential Care Homes and at the end of term assembly for our old Junior school.
We had an old Woolworths Reed Organ, A Sylophone, a military Snare Drum and Bass Drum and made use of the venue's upright piano.
Later our drummer, Phil Brown, bought his own drums and I used a string of flashing coloured bulbs to add some stage effects, the effect being to melt the skin of his bass drum!

I was born in Battersea, London, and moved to Bromley, Kent in 1965 at the age of 5 where several bands and artists were formed or launched.

Flame tried out 3 names, the other 2 being Stud & Radiation, but as a result, several other bands were formed, the longest surviving (and still going), being Unorfdadox. Visit
One of my school friends and a former member of Unorfadox, is Pete Heyward, older brother of Nick Heyward of Haircut 100 fame Visit
Pete was their tour manager for many years and later played Dave Gilmour in Pink Fraud, a Pink Floyd tribute act in which, for 2 years, I played Rick Wright

Another School friend with whom I enjoyed many years of musicianship was Colin Crawley Visit who, at 14 or thereabouts, actually built is own guitar.
Colin studied music and became a tutor at Goldsmiths, and switched from Guitar in favour of Sax & Flute. He is an extremely talented and professional musician now living with his wife and Daughter in Poland.

During lockdown, Terry Nolan and guitarist in Unorfadox, Colin Crawley, Phil Brown and I, who all keep in touch on WhatsApp under a group called Bromley Boyz, decided it might be nice to indulge in a little collaboration.
We had all played together previously during our school days and for a few years after, in bands called Canterbury or House of Dreams, the former being a name that linked us to some of our favourite artists of the time: Caravan and Camel, the second being taken from the lyrics of Genesis track, Eleventh Earl of Mar
I decided to call this collaboration Canterbury Dreams and it is still something we turn to from time to time. Call it an ongoing work in progress

I have also played solo and in a number of duos in a semi-pro/amateur basis and with my good Wife, Dawn, for friends and family. We created a number of Videos too, just for fun.

Whilst I have enjoyed being in bands, I have always reserved my right to focus on my own work under the name Seranna. On most of my albums, I play all the instruments and am responsible for many of the vocals.
Seranna is a name I created, long before it became a real name. I conjoured it from 'Sir' (thinking of The Knights of the round table) and 'Anna' pronounced 'Ah-Na' (simply because I liked how it sounded with a foreign accent)

There is a much bigger story to tell but i'll save that for another time.
